Naomi McCarthy

Introducing Naomi McCarthy

Naomi McCarthy (nee Castle) OAM is our Australian 2 time Olympic water polo star. When water polo was played for the first time at the Sydney Olympics, she was vice captain and a consistent contributor to the team in her position as defender. She scored in both of Australia’s final two games resulting in an Olympic gold medal for the Australian team. Going on to captain the team at Athens 2004, she again proved impressive with the team narrowly missing out on a bronze medal.

A Hall of Fame member for Qsport and Water Polo, she continues to give back to sport. In her role as Manager of the Elite Athlete Support Program at Griffith Sports College, she mentors and supports elite athletes recognising the how hard it is to manage study and sport at an elite level.

We welcome Naomi on board as an official A4K Ambassador knowing that she shares the great ethos of A4K that every kid should be able to participate in sport no matter their circumstances.
